Outgrowing the Nest
Oil on Walnut Wood
$986 - includes AFC & COLT charity pledge
10 x 17 x 1

Sometimes it is obvious when kids are almost ready to move out on their own! These scrappy young ospreys are waiting impatiently for dinner to be delivered. The three immature Okanagan Lake Country fish hawks appear almost fully grown, leaving no room to spare in the huge nest. This painting is from the third group of my "Lifelines" Okanagan wild survivor portrait series, where wood is carefully selected to allow energetic placement of figures in the woodgrain. This piece was created on sealed kiln-dried walnut with many layers of oil glazes.
